Value-added Supports:

  • Student advising
  • Accommodations and assistive devices for special needs
  • Flexible timetables with both day and evening classes
  • Tuition covered by Government of Ontario (LBS Program)
  • Childcare and transportation subsidies available for eligible students
  • Program prepares students for college or apprenticeship study, for writing the GED (High School Equivalency), and for employment.

Both full-time and part-time programming is available, however, the classes are discontinued in July, August and September. The reason is two fold. SSFC has a unique arrangement with the school board so that those adults living in isolated areas without transportation and are attending the college are able to come to town on the school bus, and of course when the buses are stopped for the summer, they no longer have a way into town. Secondly, the employment in Haliburton County is seasonal and therefore many of the students work during this season.
